Cummann na mBunscoil.  

The girls of Knocknagoshel N.S. were defeated by Castlegregory N.S.in the Co Semi-Final in Caherslee on Wed last. Final score Knock N.S. 3.06 Castlegregory N.S. 2.10. This was a disapointing match as the appointed ref did not show up. 

The girls of Knocknagoshel N.S. continued on their winning ways last week. On Wed they defeated Fenit N.S. in the Co Quarter Final of the league. They play Castlegregery N.S. on Wed June 7th in the Co Semi-Final in Caherslee. On Thurs the girls competed in the Co Finals of the Football Skills Competition. Joanne Brosnan finished 2nd overall in the individual and the team finished 4th in the county. Team: Katie Mangan, Joanne Brosnan and Leanne Mangan. Well done also to Katie Mangan who has been selected on the Kerry Primary Game team to play during half time in the Kerry/Tipp Munster Championship match in Fitzgerald Stadium next Sun.

 

 

The girls of Knocknagoshel N.S. had a double success last week. On Wed they defeated Scart N.S. to win the Castleisland District League in the 3 / 4 teacher section. They play Fenit N.S. on Wed May 31st in the Co Quarter Final in Walsh Park. On Thurs the girls competed against 9 other schools in the District Football Skills Competition. Again they came out on top and will take part in the Co Finals in Fitzgerald Stadium on Thurs June 1st. Team: Katie Mangan, Joanne Brosnan and Leanne Mangan.

The Castleisland District Final of Scór na bPaistí was held in Knocknagoshel Community Centre on Sun. Seven schools took part. Knocknagoshel N.S.took part in four sections, but did not get through in any. The following are the results:

The Castleisland District Final of Scór na bPaistí will take place in Knocknagoshel Community Centre on Sun Apr 2nd at 2.30pm. This is a talent competition for all National Schools run on the same lines as Scór na nÓg.

 

The Castleisland District Finals of the Cimmann na mBunscoil Mini-Sevens took place in Walsh Park on Wed Mar 22nd. Nine schools took part in the boys competition and four in the girls. Knocknagoshel N.S. boys reached the semi-final, while the girls reached the final. The boys lost to Gaelscoil and the girls lost to Currow.

The Castleisland District Cummann na mBunscoil Mini-Sevens for boys and girls takes place in Walsh Park on Wed Mar 22nd at 3.30pm.

Confirmation takes place on Wed Mar 8th for all children in the parish in 5th and 6th class in St Marys Church at 11am.

Castleisland Basketball Blitz 2005. Two teams from Koncknagoshel N.S. competed in the 36th  annual St Marys blitz over the last few days. The Senior boys took part in the 'A' section but lost both their games to Currow and Boys National. Panel: Seamus Mangan, Daniel Brosnan, Lorcan Regan, Eoin Lenihan, Kevin O’Connell, Michael Walsh, Richie Cotter, Conor Sheehan.The Senior girls fared better reaching the 'B' section final with wins over Scartaglin and Clogher schools. Cummann na mBunscoil. Knocknagoshel NS lost their Co Quarter Final match to Coolard on Fri Oct 21st. Final score Coolard 2.12 Knock 1.06.

 Knocknagoshel N.S. won out the District 3/4 Teacher section last week with two good wins over ScartaglenN.S. They now go on to the County section for the first time ever.
Loughfouder N.S. were unlucky in their matches losing by a few points in each with a very young team.

Cummann na mBunscoil. Well done to the girls of Knocknagoshel N.S. who won the Co League Final in the four teacher category in Austin Stack Park on Sat June 4th. The team gave a great performance to beat Loretto Convent N.S. Killarney on a score Knock 1.13 Loretto 3.06. Panel: Síla O’Callaghan, Miriah Curtin, Megan Roche. Sarah McAuliffe, Katie Mangan, Lorrainne Scanlon, Rachel Collins, Katie McAuliffe, Charlotte Bunsworth, Joanne Brosnan, Leanne Mangan, Maureen Piggott, Bríd Moynihan.

The Knocknagoshel N.S. Girls Football Skills team of  Lorainne Scanlon, Joanne Brosnan and Mariah Curtin won the Divisional Finals in Castleisland on Thurs May 26th. Lorainne came first overall and so won the individual title. They go forward to the Co Finals in Tralee in two weeks time.

Well done to Conor Reidy of Loughfouder N.S. who qualified for the Co Final in storytelling in Keel last week.  The Loughfiuder quiz team and the Knocknagoshel N.S. music group and novelty act also performed well but did not get through.

Scór na bPaistí. Co Semi-Final in Keel Community Centre on Wed Apr 27th at 7pm. All the winners from the Castleisland District will be taking part.  Knocknagoshel N.S are in the Instumental Music and the Novelty Act. Loughfouder N.S are in the Storytelling and the Quiz.

The District mini-sevens were run off in Walsh Park on Thurs. Nine boys teams and four girls teams took part. Knocknagoshel N.S. took part in both, winning out the girls and reaching the final of the boys where they lost to Killmurry. Loughfouder took part in the boys section drawing with Brosna and losing to Currow.

Mini-Sevens Football for boys and girls takes place on Thurs Apr 14th in Walsh Park at 3.30pm.All schools in the Castleisland District will be taking part.

Scór na bPaistí. The Castleisland District Finals took place in the Community Centre on Fri night. Twelve of the fourteen schools in the District took part. A great nights entertainment was served up with all the young talent on display. All the winners go forward to the Co Semi-Final on Apr 22nd.

Scór na bPaistí. This is a talent competition run by the Co Scór committee for National Schools. The rules are similar to Scór na .Óg. The Castleisland District Final takes place in Knocknagoshel Community Centre on Fri Mar 11th at 8pm. There are fourteen schools in the District and most have shown an interest in taking part, so a great nights entertainment is in store.

Knocknagoshel N.S were represented in the Castleisland Basketball Blitz by a Boys team in the National Schools Senior ''A'' competition and by a girls team in the National Schools Senior ''B'' Competition. The boys lost their matches, but the girls reached the final, losing by just one basket to Currow.   

The Sam Maguire Cup came to both schools on Mon Nov 8th. Colm Cooper and Donal Daly brought the cup.

Loughfouder NS have won the two teacher section of the District Cummann na mBunscoil with a win over Clogher in the final.

Knocknagoshel NS lost their final in the four teacher section to O'Breanan. 

Loughfouder NS have got off to a great start in the Cummann na mBunscoil League with good wins over Knockaclarig and Clogher.

Knocknagoshel begin their campaign on Wed Sept 22nd against Currow.

The schools re-open on Wed Sept 1st.

The concert by Knocknagoshel N.S. was a great success on Thurs night June 3rd. Each class performed their own part and were a credit to themselves and their teachers. A huge crowd came to support the show.

 Glenbeigh proved too strong for Knocknagoshel girls in Castleisland on Mon. This is the last school competition for this year.

 Knocknagoshel N.S. girls play Glenbeigh in Castleisland on Mon May 24th at 1pm in the Co.Semi-Final of Cummann na mBunscoil.

 Knocknagoshel are at present working on a school concert to be staged in the Community Centre on Thurs  June 3rd. All the classes will be performing their own act.

The Knocknagoshel N.S. Girls had a good win over Ballyduff last week in the Cummann na mBunscoil league and now go on to the Co Semi-Final on Fri. May 21st. Venue or opposition not yet known.

 The Knocknagoshel NS Girls gave a great account of themselves in Tralee on Fri last in the Co. Finals of the Mini-Sevens Competition. Eight teams from all over Kerry took part. They beat Loretto Killarney and Artfert in the group stages but found Glenbeigh too strong in the Co semi-final. Glenbeigh went on to win the final.

First Communion took place on Sat May 1st in St Mary's Church at 10am. Eleven boys and girls received.

 

Scor Na bPaisti. Knocknagoshel and Loughfouder National schools took part in this new talent competition in The Ivy Leaf Castleisland on Fri Mar 26th. Knock took part in Instumental music, Solo singing, Ballad group, Storytelling, Quiz and Set dancing. The ballad group got through to Co. Semi- Final. 

Loughfouder took part in Storytelling and Quiz and got through in Storytelling.
The Co. semi-final took place in Ardfert on Wed Apr 7th. Both the ballad group and Diarmuid Herlihy in the storytelling performed very well but did not get through to the Co. final.

Cofirmation took place in Knocknagoshel Church on Mar 22nd. Thirty two boys and girls were confirmed by Bishop Bill Murphy.

Cummann na mBunscoil. The girls of Knocknagoshel National School had a great win in the North Kerry mini-sevens competition in Ballyduff last Thursday. They now go forward to Co. Finals in Austin Stacks Park in early May. The panel of players was: Myriah Curtin, Siobhan O'Callaghan, Katie Mangan, Loraine Scanlon, Rachel Collins, Katie McAuliffe, Joanne Brosnan, Amanda Curtin, Charlotte Bunsworth. Leanne Mangan.

The boys took part in Duagh on Fri but were beaten by Coolard, however Loughfouder reached the semi-final which will be played at a later date.
