Community Games.  

The U15 Girls competition took place in Killorglin on Sun Mar 11th. The girls had a win over Oakpark and draws with Killcummin, Manor and Spa/Muckross. This was good enough to qualify for the County semi-final which takes place in Killorglin on Sat Mar 24th. Panel: Myriah Curtin, Katie Mangan, Katie McAuliffe, Joanne Brosnan and Christina Poff.

The U15 boys  took part in Listowel on Sun Feb 25th.. They were in a group with Brosna, Ballylongford  and Ballyheigue. Although they lost their matches they gave a good display in each game. Panel; Lorcan Cotter, Conor Reidy, Michael Brosnan, Daniel O’Connor and Denis Roche.

GAA Carnival.

Carnival

The Carnival was a good success over the weekend. The Tiny Tots and Disco went well on Thurs. Katie Walsh won the Bony Baby with the McElligott twins second. Brigit Scanlon won the Glamorous Granny with Sheila Curtin and Marie O’Connor joint second. Riocht/Desmonds won the Married Ladies on Fri beating Cordal in the final. The Slave Auction on Sat was a great success. The Treasure Hunt on Sun was won by the Mindana Team. There did eight teams take part. A large number took part in the Fancy Dress with Aoifa Godfrey winning the individual, 2nd Megan Roche, 3rd D.J. Roche. The Strykers and O’Connors won the Group 2nd Katie O’Connor and Ava Flaherty, 3rd Michael and Diarmuid Shine. The Pattern Day Sports were on Mon were a great success. The busking took place in the village on Mon night was won by the Sheehys and friends Abbeyfeale. The Brodericks from Abbeyfeale won the U12 with the Lynchs of Ballymac second. The hamper draw was won by Mick Keane Cloughboula. We would like to thank all those who supported us in any way over the week and a special word for all who did the bar-b-que each night.

Family Day

The Family Day took place in Walsh Park on Sun Aug 7th. The centrepiece of the day was football tournaments for U10’s and National Schools and an U8’s match between Knock and Cordal. Teams from Duagh, Kenmare, Glin, Cordal, Brosna and Knock took part. Kenmare won the schools tournament and Duagh won the U10’s. A great crowd enjoyed a great day of football and with a bouncing castle and a bungie run and bar-b-que everyone was kept busy. We would like to thank all the teams who took part and everyone who helped on the day.  

Carnival Draw.

Tickets are now on sale for the annual Carnival Hamper Draw. This year the prize is one super hamper worth €250 and is on display in The Family Shop. Tickets are on sale in all the usual venues for €2 each or 3 for €5. All proceeds go towards underage football in the club.

A very good carnival meeting took place on Wed night. All the old favourites will be on the programme again this year like the Family Day on Sun Aug 7th, tiny tots events, the Married Womens football tournament and of coarse the Pattern Day on Aug 15th. A new event this year is a Treasure Hunt on Sun Aug14th. It is hoped local groups and businesses would sponsor a 5 person team at €50. There would be a prize for the winning sponsor and for the team members. Anyone interested in sponsoring a team should contact the committee as soon as possible. The next meeting takes place this Wed at 9pm.

Community Games.

 Well done to Lorraine Scanlon, Miriah Curtin, James Walsh and Michael Brosnan who were all part of the Kerry Cross Country team who took Silver in the All-Ireland finals in Mosney last weekend. Lorraine finished third in the individual event and so won a bronze medal.

Community Games. Cross Country. Our four athletes all qualified for the National Finals in Mosney on May 21st when they competed in Beaufort on Sun Mar 13th. James Walsh and Lorainne Scanlon both won their races while Michael Brosnan and Myriah Curtin finished 4th.

Community Games. The boys U16 Basketball took place in Castleisland on Sun Mar 6th. Our team came up against Listowel and Spa/Muckross. Although they lost both matches they gave a good account of themselves in their first ever appearance in this competition.

Community  Games The Girls U13 indoor soccer Co Finals took place in Listowel on Sat Feb 26th.The girls gave a great display to come away with the Bronze medal beating Gaeltacht in the playoff for 3rd and 4th place. Eleven teams took part. Panel: Myriah. Curtin, Katie Mangan, Lorainne Scanlon, Katie McAuliffe, Joanne Brosnan, Rachel Collins, Sinead Roche.

The Cancer Society Fundraiser on Fri night was a great success. The organizers would like to thank everyone who helped over the last few weeks to raise so much for this worthy cause.

A Cancer Society sponsored Ladies head shave and Gents leg wax takes place in O'Connors Bar on Fri Feb 4th at 9pm. An auction of various items and a raffle will also take place on the night. This is a very worthy cause and should be well supported.
