Knocknagoshel Coiste na nOg 2005.

 

          2005 was a good year for Knocknagoshel Coiste na nOg. There was great interest in our activities by the boys and girls of the parish. A big effort was made by all the officers and mentors to get as many as possible involved. Coaching took place in the schools every week and this helped to encourage more children to play during the year. The year began with a very successful Parish League in March. 48 boys and girls took part.The following is a summary of how the teams performed during the year:

U8: Played a number of challenge matches,

U10: Played a number of challenge games and competed in the District Blitz reaching the ‘C’ final.

U12: Reached the ‘B’ Final of the District League, competed in the Co and N.K. Leagues .

U13: Played in the NK Championship.

U14: Competed in the Co,District and NK competitions.

U15: Played in the Co Championship.

U16: Competed in County League and Castleisland District .

U13 Girls: Reached the Co Div 1 Final.

Girls U14: Competed in the Co League Div 1 and the NK League Div 1.

         We took part in the District  Scor na nÓg, taking part in six of the eight catagories and reaching the Co Semi-final in two
Knocknagoshel N.S. won the District Final of the Cummann na mBunscoil, took part in North Kerry Mini-Sevens and the skills competition
Knock N.S. Girls won the Co Cummann na mBunscoil football.
Loughfouder N.S. Boys reached the District final of 2 teacher Cummann na mBunscoil and took part in Mini-Sevens and the skills competition.
Both schools took part in Scór na bPaistí, reaching three semi-finals and one final.       

        We would like to thank all those who helped during the year- officers, mentors, schoolteachers, parents, caretaker at the field, referees, those who worked in the burger hut, our sponsors, and the local Comhaltas group who helped with Scor. Also Fr O’Shea and the local correspondents for the papers.

       We always require more help and would welcome anybody who would like to get involved in any way.
